Innovation has always been a major talking point in the gaming industry, mostly due to many of the world’s most beloved games being extremely malleable.

It is precisely this malleability that allowed both developers and players to take iGaming into a whole new direction with each passing year.

When it comes to the most malleable games, roulette and slots don’t quite fit the bill. There is a limited amount of ways in which you can spin a wheel or hit a button in a progressive jackpot game, so customization always arrives at a dead end. In the early 2000s, experts realized that it was actually blackjack that had what it took to become the game of the future.

It’s fast-paced, easy to master, and has rules which can be twisted and altered. The first thing that ‘joined’ the original roster of rules were side bets. Instead of going against the dealer, doubling down or doing something minor, you could suddenly be much more involved in the gameplay.

However, one thing that was always missing – exciting multipliers and big wins. While you could run it up, it took a long time to be able to flex with some king-size bets. This gaping hole in live blackjack games was finally solved on December 19, 2019, with the release of Quantum Blackjack.

Playtech, veterans of the iGaming industry, wanted to do something different and fuse their Quantum concept with yet another game. Quantum Roulette was a major hit, so it made sense to add the same perks to everyone’s favorite card game. It was immediately clear that we had something special in our hands.

Due to the game’s popularity, we thought now was the ideal moment to look back on its launch and mechanics, as well as the casinos that offer it today.

It was an exclusive title in the nascent stages of the launch, but now almost every Canadian casino site offers it as a flagship game. This gave us a lot to work with, much to our joy.

Nevertheless, we designed this Quantum Blackjack review to help you see the good and the bad, before ultimately making a decision on your own. With all its unique features, our advice is to go for it.

🥇Our Favourite Quantum Blackjack Sites in Canada

Even though we haven’t even analyzed Quantum Roulette’s inner workings, you’re probably asking yourself ‘is it really one of the best games currently available?’. It’s a valid reason to ponder, and the answer is yes. While this may seem like somewhat of a spoiler, it’s not enough for a game to be good if you want to have a really great experience.

We at Lion Casinos like to view live dealer games as just the final stage of a long journey. Before you get to enjoy the graphics and the studio design, there’s a lot to do. You have to register your account, pick a payment method, find a bonus, and a million other things. All of this depends not on Playtech or on Quantum Blackjack, but on each casino site.

Objectively, the number of key factors stemming from each live casino is greater than the impact of the game. That doesn’t mean that we don’t view Quantum Blackjack as a worthy final destination, though. It’s just that we love gaming in a comfortable environment. Accomplishing this requires us to find the right casino, and that’s exactly what we want to help you with.

So, what did we look at before coming up with our final rankings? Of course, we started from the basics, such as licensing. Every casino that we even considered had to have an official license from a Canadian national or regional regulatory body. Depending on whether it was a domestic or foreign brand, this license could come from a lot of organizations.

After checking that out, our team stretched out in a plethora of different directions, all while considering the needs of Quantum Blackjack players. This led us to some interesting conclusions and ideas, all of which we used to narrow the list down to 25 casinos.

From this point onwards, it was the proverbial bloodbath of brands. On multiple occasions, we argued that certain advantages or flaws are purely down to personal preference. It was hard, but we eventually came up with the right categorization strategy.

Once the list was down to ten, our categorization showcased its benefits. We were able to quickly disqualify certain brands because of their output in certain aspects, which lead us to the top five list.

Ultimately, it became clear that we no longer needed to narrow the list down. Five casinos* are more than enough for you to try out, especially if you’re new to Quantum Blackjack. All the sites we listed are 100% legitimate and pay withdrawals in less than five days. Test them individually and mercilessly, and you’ll find your new live casino home.

What Are the Qualities of a Good Quantum Blackjack Casino?

Isn’t this the same as ‘what are the best Quantum Blackjack casinos?’ For those of you who were wondering this, your hunch was somewhat right. These two questions tend to overlap in many situations, but what we wanted to do was to help you recognize a great Quantum Blackjack site without looking at our rankings.

The process of finding the answers was undeniably tedious, but we quickly realized that we had to reverse the method we used in the previous section.

Instead of looking at the casino sites themselves, we focused on Quantum Blackjack. Trying out different strategies and tips allowed us to realize what was necessary for successful gaming sessions.

A problem appeared when it became apparent how multi-faceted this Playtech title really is. 20+ characteristics made our shortlist, but this was impossible to present in a concise and understandable manner.

After a few series of debates, patterns were suddenly apparent and our team created a hierarchy of qualities. They came in the form of a four-point list, one which was unique to Quantum Roulette and the requirements of its fanbase.

If you were wondering, we didn’t include any general qualities, such as loading speeds, UI design, payment methods, etc. This is due to the fact that these qualities are necessary for all online casinos, not just Quantum Blackjack ones.

We also made sure that the characteristics we’re presenting are an ideal match with one another. This means that if a casino embodies them, you’re bound to experience this brilliant card game in its most splendid form. Here they are, in no particular order:

High Withdrawal Limits

No matter what’s the basis of a live dealer game, it has the ability to divide the audience of a casino that offers it. It just so happens to be that Quantum Blackjack is an ideal example.

While the original version of the game is for casual players who like to slowly increase their balance and have fun, the multipliers introduced in the Quantum variant opened the gates for every high roller on the internet.

When your regular winnings can be 3, 5, or 10 times greater, you already know you’ll snatch the opportunity as soon as you see it. Even though this innovation can make a big difference in the long run, it also disqualified many casino sites from our rankings.

Since not every site has the same traffic, some are forced to impose low withdrawal limits. If they didn’t do so, it’s highly likely that they would have to shut down in a matter of weeks. By limiting the weekly/monthly withdrawal amounts, casinos ensure their own financial safety.

That’s why casinos with high withdrawal limits are gems, ones that you should use to further your own Quantum Blackjack skills.

First and foremost, this is because high caps on payouts are a direct indicator that a site is doing well i.e. has a lot of regular and new customers. If the casino of your choice has this quality, you know you’re dealing with a legitimate brand.

Secondly, you have to realize that Quantum Blackjack is one of the most volatile games in Playtech’s catalog. Because you can easily find your winnings multiplied by 5x or 10x, it’s crucial that you can withdraw that money right away. Failing to do so could possibly result in your squandering that money.

With an RTP of 95.90% to 99.47%, depending on the bet you’re looking at, Quantum Blackjack can either make your wildest dreams come true or be your worst nightmare.

Such a fluctuating house edge means that you need a casino that gives you the freedom to up your stakes if you see things are going well.

Our advice would be to only aim for casinos that allow you to withdraw more than $15,000 per month, but $10,000 will do if you’re not all that experienced in Quantum Blackjack. Other characteristics/features can make it worth it, too.

Promotions & Raffles

Due to our team having 1000+ hours of playing Quantum Blackjack behind them, we can attest to the tragedy that are sites with high withdrawal limits, but poor bonuses. This is a form of false marketing that many casinos use to attract high rollers and financially protect themselves at the same time.

Even though high rollers tend to spend more money, it is in the interest of most brands that they use their own cash. As enticing a lack of limits can be, being given free rein can only result in players getting burned and subsequently losing their infatuation with Quantum Blackjack.

Why does this happen? Because players are forced to play with their own money, they have a limited amount of playtime, rendering them unable to practice a strategy as much as necessary. This results in more losses than they would usually experience.

To prevent this from happening, you need a Canadian site that offers a healthy amount of live casino bonuses and promotions. Since Quantum Blackjack is not a classic live dealer game, you will benefit greatly from every extra dollar that gets added to your balance.

The most obvious benefit is the educational purpose. When you’re using money that you received as a gift, you’ll be more focused on the mechanics of the game. Such an opportunity for clear thinking can help you make better decisions and refine your approach.

If you’re in the market for a bonus or two, you should look for ones that give you a good match on your initial deposit. 100% should be the minimum, but be ready to wait out for the addition of new ones. You might even find a 150% or 200% match.

There isn’t a high chance you’ll land a no deposit, but these do exist. If you’re one of the lucky ones, you can hope for a $20-30 boost with irrational wagering requirements.

And speaking about those nasty requirements – be careful. Some casinos have a nasty tendency of advertising their promotions with outrageous amounts of money. $1,000 might seem like a great deal, only to end up disappointed by the fact that you have to play through that amount 50 times.

It’s just a trap meant to coax you into spending all of your winnings. Never accept anything more than 30x.

Quantum Roulette Bonus Contribution

When it comes to handicapping players and maintaining the house edge, some casinos have developed sneaky ways of getting what they want.

We talked about wagering requirements in the paragraphs above, but you have to go even further than those numbers. If you wish to find the ideal Quantum Blackjack casino, being careless is not an option.

The fact that a casino doesn’t even need ludicrous wagering requirements to rip you off is one scary thought. How do they do this, anyway?

Funnily, the key lies not in the amount of money you have to bet, but in the way you’re betting the money. This has a lot to do with the nature of Quantum Blackjack, to begin with.

As you can do a whole lot to impact your chances of having a pretty payday, casinos aren’t prepared to let you off the hook that easily. For games such as roulette and blackjack, sites have to impose something that we call low bonus contribution rates.

A bonus contribution rate is a number that shows you how much of the money you bet will count against the playthrough requirements. Having a low rate means that the effect of your money will be minimized, which, in turn, requires you to play more than you should.

For example, if a game has a 20% bonus contribution rate, every dollar you spend will count as 20c.

Quantum Blackjack is one notable victim of this strategy, mainly due to the easy nature of blackjack itself. Everyone can use side bets and multipliers to win a lot of money, so casinos made things harder for lucky players.

This game usually has a bonus contribution rate of around 15%, give or take. Running it up is a realistic option if you have a card that triggers the multiplier, so you won’t need that much time to earn the right to withdraw your winnings.

Never even consider sites that attribute anything less than a rate of 13%. No matter how impressive the casino may be, playing Quantum Blackjack this way won’t be feasible in the long run.

Flexible Betting Limits

While reviewing live dealer games is a job that inherently involves repeating oneself, this section does not fall under that category. This is because our attitude towards flexibility is that it presents an important piece of every live casino puzzle.

Aside from being just a perk that you can use to boost your own balance, flexibility is a sign that a casino welcomes everyone.

Most of the time, we’re used to high withdrawal limits being viewed as the only sign of flexibility. But how can such a concept be flexible when it relates to only one end of the spectrum? It isn’t, when you think about it.

Being able to withdraw $30,000 in one weak is cool, but you need to take a look at the other end of the scale – the lower limit for placing bets.

We’ve already mentioned how volatile can Quantum Blackjack get, which means that every bit of wiggle room is welcome.

With a low minimum bet, you can make your first steps through the game’s interface and familiarize yourself with the rules. If you only need to spend a few cents per bet, you can gain a lot of experience for a small amount.

There is also the case where a cold streak might hit you. Despite there being nothing more unnerving than frequent losses, using a variation of the Martingale won’t get you anywhere. You need to lower your bets, which is precisely where flexibility emerges as a desirable quality.

If you ask us, we wouldn’t even look at casinos that impose minimum bets of over $1. As this is the industry standard, you can rest assured that it’s possible to accomplish anything with a $50 bankroll.

Keep in mind that there are also sites with a minimum bet of 10c, but such cases usually involve a myriad of tradeoffs in the form of other features being absent.

Compare the flexibility of the site’s betting limits with the other qualities and you’ll get a pretty clear indication of whether the site is all bark and no bite, or not.

How Does Quantum Blackjack Work?

Even though Quantum Blackjack is classified as a live dealer game, it’s so much more than that. The dealer might hand out the cards and control the table, but the real treat in this game are the multipliers, which are fully controlled by RNG software.

Random Number Generation, or RNG, is a type of computer program that picks numbers completely randomly. In order for RNGs to be used in casino games, they have to prove their randomness over a long period of time.

The thing is, RNG software is usually used for single-player casino games. Quantum Blackjack is the first, and so far the only, live dealer game that uses RNG elements in determining the final outcome. It’s a combination of live events and computer-generated numbers appearing on the board.

Compared to classic versions of the game, Quantum Blackjack brings a lot to the table. Here are some of the more prominent changes you should be on the lookout for:

  • The game involves the addition of random multipliers to the regular game flow. How does this system work exactly? Well, the RNG software picks a card, both the number and the suit, assigning it either 3x, 5x, or 10x. There are no guarantees. For instance, three cards could all get a 10x multiplier, while you can also go up to three rounds without anything. If you have two or more multiplied cards, their multipliers are also multiplied (i.e. 3x + 3x = 9x).
  • To balance this unique way of increasing players’ winnings, Playtech came up with a pretty shrewd trick. If the dealer busts out with a three-card hand, a push automatically happens. We’re not quite sure how to feel about this particular addition, as it completely misses the point when it comes to balancing the game out. If it weren’t for the multipliers, the Push at a 3-Card Bust rule would completely deplete the game’s excitement.
  • You also have side bets to work with. Compared to, let’s say, Evolution’s Infinite Blackjack, they are much more limited. The first one is the usual 21+3, which awards you pretty payouts if your two cards and the dealer’s one form a poker hand. Depending on which hand is formed, you can get varying amounts of money. A flush pays, 5:1, a straight twice as much, a 3 of a kind 30:1, a straight flush 40:1 and a suited 3 of a kind 100:1. We were particularly surprised by the most lucrative case, as it doesn’t happen once in a blue moon. A strange decision, nevertheless.

Other than the aforementioned points, there’s nothing new when it comes to the rules. However, we’ve noticed quite a lot when it comes to visual aspects of the both the studio and the bonus animations.

At first, we were startled by the dullness of the multiplier announcement. There’s not flashing or anything – the multiplied card just casually glows and pulsates on the board in the background. Because of this illogical decision, we found ourselves asking to be hit again even though we had a bonus. This has the potential to be a serious mechanical issue and we hope they fix this.

On the other hand, the studio itself is a beauty. It looks like it was taken straight out of a Star Trek movie, if we’re being honest. The animations in the tubes are wonderful, but what we loved the most was the illusion of the dome. It seems almost as if the cards are disappearing, but the blackness just visually engulfs them.

Games That Are Similar to Quantum Blackjack

Believe it or not, we had a hard time finding a game that Quantum Blackjack can directly be compared to. An obvious candidate would be Evolution’s Infinite Blackjack, about which you can find out more in our review. However, the main similarity between them is that they allow unlimited amounts of players at the same time.

This is a characteristic embodied by many non-Quantum Black casinos, so we can’t consider them cousins just yet. Nevertheless, it’s clear that Infinite Blackjack did indeed present an influence.

Another candidate, albeit a completely different game, is Quantum Roulette. It’s based on the same principles as Quantum Blackjack, its younger brother. However, the roulette title also features a second layer of multipliers, something which the blackjack one doesn’t.

Maybe Playtech toned it down with their incessant experimentation, but who knows? Our verdict would be that Quantum Blackjack isn’t similar to any game. It’s everything and nothing at the same time.
