BetMGM, a prominent player in the North American iGaming industry, has announced a significant achievement in Ontario’s iGaming sector. As of December 2023, BetMGM holds a remarkable 22% market share in the province, alongside a notable 17% share in both sports betting and iCasino across the United States and Ontario.
This success comes in the wake of Ontario’s pioneering move in April 2022 to establish a regulated iGaming framework for private operators. Since then, the province has licensed over 45 third-party operators, positioning itself among the top five iGaming jurisdictions in North America.
Adam Greenblatt, CEO of BetMGM, expressed satisfaction with the company’s performance in Ontario. He pointed out that BetMGM’s market share in the U.S. is more than double that of the fourth-ranking brand. In Ontario alone, based on the province’s reported CA$1.4 billion revenue from online casino and sports betting (excluding proceeds from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s online platform), BetMGM’s share amounts to approximately CA$308 million.
Greenblatt attributed BetMGM’s success in Ontario to several factors, including the company’s strong Android product presence in a highly competitive market featuring over 70 brands. He also revealed plans for the launch of the Wheel of Fortune online casino in Ontario and Pennsylvania in 2024, which debuted earlier in New Jersey. This move is aimed at enhancing the iGaming experience and driving player acquisition.
Another innovative addition by BetMGM is the introduction of Dual Play Roulette, a game that merges online and physical casino experiences by allowing online and real users to play simultaneously at the same roulette table. This game is currently available in New Jersey, with plans to expand to other states, including Ontario.
BetMGM’s commitment to responsible gambling has also been recognized, with the company being awarded RG Check certification by the Responsible Gambling Council. This certification is a testament to BetMGM’s dedication to responsible play policies and activities.
