The month of September was particularly tough for General Motors workers in Oshawa.
Casino Complexes Could Soon Welcome Employees
Unifor Local 1090 reported that about 4,500 individuals associated with the labor union have been temporarily laid off as a result of the ongoing strike. This means that some 2,500 individuals working at the assembly plant in Oshawa were told to go home since mid-September. An additional 2,000 people working directly with General Motors’ suppliers were also temporarily laid off.
The labor union has been seeking ways in which it could offer its members a steady income and no financial harm as a result of the turmoil. Unifor Local 1090 members are going to be offered a position at Casino Woodbine, Casino Ajax, and Great Blue Heron Casino.
