BCLC Eyes Improved Social Purpose with New Kamloops-Based VP

British Columbia Lottery Corporation recently announced a breath of fresh air for Kamloops, as Peter ter Weeme is about to become the lottery corporation’s newest Vice President of Social Purpose and Stakeholder Engagement. This year would be dedicated to the improvement of the corporation’s operation, which would be possible with the introduction of new individuals on leading positions. His appointment is effective February 10.

Elevating the performance and offerings is an important goal for the lottery corporation down the road, further solidified with the latest appointment. Mr. ter Weeme is about to contribute to British Columbia Lottery Corporation’s success with his experience in the industry and the vision he has in his mind. At first, he would commence his work in Vancouver, where the Crown corporation has one of its offices.

Giving Back to the Communities

This would make it possible for the individual to have a smooth introduction to the vast structure of the lottery corporation. In the summer, projections are that he would be relocated to Kamloops for the upcoming months of operation. This is where the headquarters are located, making it easier for him to have good communication with his colleagues on important topics.

Greg Moore, British Columbia Lottery Corporation Interim President and Chief Executive Officer, expressed his delight with the new addition to the team, as projections are for a better future. Mr. ter Weeme has about 25 years of experience in the social sphere in various positions. Projections are that he would be able to influence the company in a positive manner, solidifying its position in British Columbia’s region.

Mr. ter Weeme has the skills needed to come up with a new social purpose for the Crown corporation, a move that would be crucial for its future development and increasing the trust levels within the province. Moreover, he would also have the responsible task to impact the way British Columbia Lottery Corporation collaborates with its stakeholders.

Improvement Projected

Mr. ter Weeme’s last job title was Executive Vice President of Purpose and Brand Citizenship for Elevator Strategy. The marketing and communications firm based in Vancouver gave him the chance to work on his skills and implement them well down the road. The end goal for the corporation would be to become an even greater supporter of the host communities, as well as give back more to the players.

Casino locations overseen by the Crown corporation give back to their host community thanks to the gaming revenue they generate and the taxes they are obliged to pay. Moreover, the various programs supporting local communities are also something British Columbia Lottery Corporation is constantly working on.

It should be taken into account that there are still several executive positions anticipating their individuals within the structure. Some of those are Vice President, Compliance, Legal & Security & Chief Compliance Officer; as well as Vice President, People & Culture. Projections are that those would be filled in the upcoming months, as the Crown corporation is seeking the most experienced and proficient individuals for them.
