Chances Kelowna Could See More Expansion in Upcoming Weeks

Chances Kelowna is one of the gaming venues in British Columbia that has managed to stir the pot on a local level. Its gaming expansion plans could end up jeopardizing the local gaming field, as a rival casino has highlighted. Great Canadian Gaming Corporation would once again make its way before the city council for a zoning bylaw amendment related to the expansion.

The casino developer has been eager to see some changes introduced to the local gambling scene but this has not been the case with rival gaming locations. Great Canadian Gaming made it clear earlier this year that local players have been seeking table gaming on its premises for quite a while. In an attempt to meet their expectations and bring a more diverse gaming portfolio, an expansion was eyed.

Table Games Added

The addition of table games might be the missing piece for Chances Kelowna, eyeing brighter gambling future in the region. However, rival casino venue Playtime Casino begs to differ. The gaming hotspot overseen by Gateway Casinos and Entertainment recently made it clear that it disagrees with the city council’s approval of table gaming at Chances Kelowna.

Clarissa Pruden, General Manager of Playtime Casino, said that Okanagan is able to offer table games to the people seeking them. Kelowna Casino in the Okanagan Valley features Blackjack, Roulette, Pai Gow, Mini-Baccarat, Let it Ride, Three Card Poker and Texas Shoot out Poker. There are some five kilometers between Playtime Casino and Chances Kelowna, making them the closest rivals within the province of British Columbia.

Despite that, local officials gave their approval to the expanded gaming offerings at Chances Kelowna, as this was projected to bring a greater gaming revenue allocation to the city coffers. The financial support every gaming venue brings to its host community is among the main selling points of any expansion. Now the casino operator seeks more changes made to the building.

More Changes Coming Soon

Great Canadian Gaming Corporation eyes a conversation with the city council this Monday, as the casino operator seeks a zoning bylaw. With its help, the building would be able to see the construction of more gaming zones. Those include more space for the electrical room, as well as office space for the individuals that would be overseeing the operation of said devices. As a result of that, the new table games would operate without hiccups.

If these amendments receive the approval of city officials, Chances Kelowna is about to see an increase in its overall footprint. The increase would amount to around 26 percent in site coverage. The bingo and gaming zone has hinted significant changes in the past and the plans for those might be revealed in the upcoming weeks. This Monday would see the conversation regarding the zoning bylaw amendment only.

Grands jeux canadiens appears to be working on those changes, indicating that more time would be needed before they are revealed. It should be taken into account that the casino operator also owns a property located right next to the gaming venue and expansion plans might include it as well.
