Wasaga Beach is among the locations reserved for future operation by Gateway Casinos & Entertainment. The community is eager to learn more about the project and Gateway Casinos recently made a major announcement regarding the official branding of the future gaming complex.
Last fall was a special time for the area, as one of Canada’s most prominent casino operators announced its decision to develop in the area and revive its economy with a well-rounded casino complex. The beginning of 2018 brought the news that the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has chosen Gateway Casinos for the future operator of the Central Gaming Bundle part of the modernization process.
Casino Venue Construction Commences Soon
This gaming bundle of casino locations included facilities such as OLG Slots at Georgian Downs and Casino Rama Resort. Gateway Casinos also received the opportunity to build an entirely new gaming and entertainment facility in Wasaga Beach or Collingwood. Following discussions, the casino operator decided that Wasaga Beach would be a better home for its next casino complex.
Ever since then, the area has been buzzing with discussions around the future gaming venue and its potential impact on the community and its economy. Cascades Casino Wasaga Beach was chosen as the most appropriate brand for the gaming project that is still in its beginning stages. Mayor Nina Bifolchi expressed her contentment with the turn of events and the new brand that would make its way to Wasaga Beach.
She also pointed out that the government has been working in close collaboration with Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation striving to accelerate the process and now it is clear that provincial lawmakers have given their OK to the business case. Upcoming weeks are going to see the official announcement of Cascades Casino Wasaga Beach’s launch date, projected to take place about a year after the groundbreaking ceremony.
Launch Date Announced over the Next Weeks
Over the past few months, local businesses and organizations have expressed their position on the decision-making process related to the casino location. Five proposed sites were taken into consideration and locals were ready to give their opinion, but at the end of the day, Gateway Casinos issued its ultimate decision to build at the Mosley Street roundabout.
Such a site is far from the eyed by many downtown area that is in need of a boost. Stonebridge developer Mark Crowe took the time to look into the subject and issue some recommendation that would aim to minimize the damage of casino operation away from Wasaga Beach downtown.
Among those is the revitalization of the Main Street, but recent economic impact research made it clear that the downtown area would not suffer from withdrawal of people and customers.
Cascades Casino Wasaga Beach comes with a well-rounded casino venue with an adjacent parking lot with 368 spaces. In addition to that, the complex would include a hotel building and dining offerings signature to the brand, bringing the family-friendly factor.
