Desperados Wild Megaways provides the player with a chance to experience the Wild West, all while trying their luck at getting a big prize. Inspired is the name of the developer that’s giving us Desperados Wild, and they’ve acquired the license for the Megaways engine from Big Time Gaming, this being their first release with it.

The game will make use of the usual 6 reels with 2-7 symbols added at random to each one, and with as many as 117,649 Megaways to get paid through. Top wins of up to $250,000 are expected, from a slot machine which has Medium volatility and an RTP of up to 96.49%. It is played with wagers between $0.20 and $20. As features that you will encounter along the way, you find the usual Cascading Reels and two types of free spins, one with unlimited multipliers, and the other with sticky wilds.

It’s the first and only Wild West themed slot machine to feature the Megaways system at the moment, so if you’re a fan of both, this is your chance to experience them together. It’s got a better design quality than I’m used to seeing in this category, so Inspired already gets extra points for that.

Desperados Wild Megaways will feature wilds, among others, but not in the usual way. While in most Megaways slots the wilds are fairly simple, often even relegated to a horizontal reel shown at the top, here there are four types of wilds that you can get. Unfortunately, most of the time you get them only on the horizontal reel, but in one of the free spins they will appear on the middle four reels. Either way, you will get to use these as substitute symbols, same as in every other game.

With every winning combination that you form, the game triggers cascading reels next, and this can add multiple new waves of winning symbols to a single paid spin.

As for the way that you can get into the free spins, it’s through scatter symbols that this is possible here. 4+ scatters will get you a number of free spins, in one of two versions that this feature has. Additional scatters will add 2 extra free spins for each symbol that contributes. You’re the one picking what variant of the free spins you play through.

Sunset Spins would be the regular version of the free spins. 8+ free spins are offered, and as you form combinations and get cascades, the multiplier keeps going up by 1x. It doesn’t reset, and there is no limit as to how high it can go.

Jail House is the second version, with 12+ free spins offered. Wilds appearing on the middle four reels drop to the bottom and then turn sticky for the remainder of the free spins. If you get additional wilds on the same reel, then a multiplier boost is also possible. Once you end up with a full wild reel, 5 extra free spins are triggered.

Conclusion

It’s a Wild West themed game, and that’s already unique for the still small Megaways category, but at the same time it is well designed, has only Medium volatility (not as risky as other titles in this category), and yet still pays very well (up to $250,000). Overall, I like what Inspired did with this first launch of theirs from the Megaways category, even though they didn’t innovate in a significant way.
